“The difference between an artist and a graphic designer…
One says “it’s finished when I feel it’s finished” the other says “I will have this by the 30th.” (Jay Benjamin )

“The ultimate inspiration is the deadline.” (Nolan Bushnell)

Tri-State Trophies has gone above and beyond since its start in 1964 with customer satisfaction
and being the leader in bringing one-of-a kind awards and promotions to the Tri-State and beyond.
I am privileged to be a part of a company that puts the importance of our customers and our service
above all else! We pride ourselves in being the company that gets the things accomplished that other
companies like ours is unable to do. We have helped so many of our customers bring their ideas and
projects to life in a time-frame that seems impossible. We understand the importance of deadlines and
the pressures of last minute event planning. We enjoy, not only the challenge of time-sensitive projects,
but helping our customers finish their ideas and projects in time for their event. So, don’t fret! The next time
you feel the burden of an unworkable deadline, we will take that burden off your shoulders and
provide you with our fast-paced, quality-driven service. We strive for customer satisfaction and excellence.
It’s our way of giving back to those who have helped establish Tri-State Trophies as the awards leader since 1964!

Since Labor Day of 2012, I have been brought into several new worlds. My first new world that I came into was the world of Trophies, Plaques, and Car Shows. Being an outsider, I was in over my head. I didn’t realize that car shows were even a thing. I knew of the Frog Follies here locally, but didn’t realize that car shows were nation wide, or the amount of car shows that happen yearly. Immediately I was overwhelmed. Starting a new job is tough enough, but starting in a new industry that I was completely unaware of, was a scary thought. The biggest challenge that I have had to overcome here at Tri-State Trophies is learning the terminology that is in this industry. For starters, Dash Plaques – I had never heard of such a thing – and didn’t understand the concept behind them. After being here for a few months now, I understand.

I have survived my first months here at Tri-State Trophies, and although I have started in a slower time of business, I am glad for this opportunity that has been presented to me. It has given me a chance to adapt to new beginnings, and has given me the challenge of learning new things. I am ready for the challenge of the Busy Season. I can’t wait to see what else this company can challenge me with.

I have been like a kid enjoying a new toy (after the initial scared-out-of-your-pants-going-to-blow-up-the-building shock), loving all the new products we can now engrave here in-store. The Pub glasses and Mugs can sometimes be a challenge, but I think I am getting the hang of it. Acrylic awards are now a breeze compared to producing them our rotary engravers, and have improved our production time for these kinds of awards. I will be updating you on my progress as I get bolder and try bigger and more challenging projects. Thanks for reading this blog, and have a great day!!

Thanksgiving is coming and it’s time once again for our famous TST bring-in. Everybody brings a dish (or 2) and we try to stay away from the traditional Thanksgiving menu. Don’t want to get burned out before we have to cook for our families. And it’s not limited to Thanksgiving. We pretty much have a bring-in for every holiday. And if it’s been too long between holidays, we just have one for the heck of it. There are always the favorites like ranch rolls, veggie pizza, and cheese blob (named because it’s never a round ball). It’s a great time to try out new recipes. Sara likes to use us for her guinea pigs almost every week. A previous employee always made Oreo balls. When Alyssa came as his replacement, we asked her what her specialty was and she replied…OREO BALLS! We’re thinking she was sent from heaven. It’s always a good time to sit and stuff tons of food in our faces. Until about 2 o’clock rolls around and I just want to crawl under my desk and go to sleep.

The best thing about it is talking to different people all over the country and helping them with their awards. We offer such a wide variety that no order is ever the same. My all time favorite is car shows. Our customers can either send us their art for dash plaques or one of our experienced graphic artists can create something special and unique for them. Seeing the finished product and hearing our customers get excited about how great it turned out is very rewarding.

Design is intelligence made visible. (Alina Wheeler)
A successful design not only is appealing to the eye, it also serves a function;
a finality to a purpose seeking vision and construction.
Designers are architects of color, shape and measure of negative space.
As a designer, I feel it is important to learn all you can about the subject matter you are creating.
Research is key to a successful design. I learn all I can about the organization, club or event I am designing for.
As an individual, I use that knowledge to better myself, my relationships with others, and to improve my skills in design.
Starting out seven years ago, I had almost no knowledge of automobiles or the vast following of car enthusiasts that were
traveling the United States in search of the next great adventure.
I was always very interested in cars, especially the 1977 Nova Super Sport, but never called myself an expert on the trend.
Working with our customers has given me a library of information and photographs on different car models, events, and trends circulating the ‘Cruise-In’ frenzy.
As modest as I am, I can now proudly call myself a professional, an expert, a know-it-all when it comes to car shows, event designs and customer satisfaction.
I have designs all around the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska, the United Kingdom and Italy!
There’s a certain satisfaction in knowing that I have brought to life an idea a customer has dreamed.
I enjoy the gratification on the faces of those I am working for;
the admiration that I created from empty (negative) space, a beautiful, thought-provoking piece of Car Show glory!
I love our customers and look forward to the next challenge they present to me.

A design isn’t finished until somebody is using it. (Brenda Laurel)

Hi Folks,

I’d like to welcome everyone to 2012 and it’s going to be a great year! I am one of the sales associates that help out in our online sales, showroom, and over-the-phone orders. Also, I get to dabble in our Facebook page. We are in the process of kicking off the year with a new “image” online. Not only on our website, but Facebook as well. Yeah, I’m guilty of being addicted. It’s such a great way to keep in touch and get instant feedback. My favorite is sharing pictures!

I, along with Cindy G, will be posting pictures of some of our custom, unique, “did we really do that” projects. We do have some of those on occasion, ha-ha. Other ideas to keep you up-to-date in trophy land will be any new products, special deals, events, trivia, polls….I think you’re getting the picture. We love to read your comments!
